Hello hellooo internet! No, I'm not dead :P I was just procrastinating hehe. It's been almost 10 days since I last posted! Time flies too fast.
Here's a little life update : My exams are over :P, I'm going back home after 2 days cuz now I've more than a month long break until the next semester, and I still can't figure out how to write songs :<
I seriously believe people who can write songs or even poems are one of the smartest people on this planet! Cuz what do you mean what they write RHYMES and don't feel CRINGEY and actually MAKES SENSE!
When I try writing songs it's either 2 of those. It can never be all three of them T~T. Welp, I'll keep trying until I come up with something ig.
Anyways.... Guess what!? I'm finally getting comments on my posts! I'm pretty sure they're just my friends but at least the comment section isn't dead silent now :P (My page kinda is tho, sorry I'll post more ^^")
But you can't delete or edit your comments... Well you *can* but not from here... Let me explain!
So basically to run a website you need to upload your HTML (and other files) to a web host. These are servers that are online 24/7 and serve your website files when someone visits your site.
Now I use GitHub Pages. It's free and works directly with your GitHub repository. You just upload your files to the repo. It is saved in your repository kinda like cloud storage, but with version control and the ability to turn your files into a live website using GitHub Pages.
So my website files are stored in my GitHub repo, and GitHub acts as the host that makes them accessible to everyone.
Now GitHub also has something called Discussions, where people can post and comment (but normally that’s only on GitHub itself, not on your website).
What I did is use Giscus. It is a comment system which basically connects my website to GitHub Discussions. So every comment you post here is actually stored as a comment on my GitHub repo.
And I don't even have to use a database to store comments! Since every comment you post here is actually being sent to GitHub through Giscus, and then Giscus just fetches and displays them on my website! Whoever came up with the idea of using GitHub Discussions like this is actually pretty smart ngl.
This is how the comments are actually stored:
It's in the Discussions tab on my GitHub repo. So when you comment on entry 4 here, it actually shows up as a comment in a discussion for that page on GitHub. Pretty cool right :P
Now back to how you can edit/delete your comment, since your comments are actually stored in GitHub Discussions and just displayed here, you can only edit or delete them from there. You can find it here :
https://github.com/mappeep/mappeep.github.io/discussions
And if you wanna stalk my HTML files UwU, just go to the code tab! Yapped this much just for one link ahaha... :P
Alrighty then, guess I'll stop yapping now! See ya guys on my next post! Probably a MHA review. BYE!
